Wellness Journey – Month 2 Update

Weight loss this month: – 3.1 pounds. Total lost: – 8.1 pounds

May was a challenging month with many celebrations and a vacation. Only 75% of my days were in the WW blue zone, but I continued with the ugly tracking anyway. We walked extensively while touring the parks in North Dakota. I tracked points the best I could, but I definitely enjoyed the local cuisine as part of our vacation experience. The scale showed a 1/2 pound gain at my post-vacation weigh-in. I was totally fine with that. The frustrating part for me is back-to-back weeks of staying the same when I’ve KNOW I’ve followed the program exactly. I kept at it and was rewarded with a 1.2 pound loss this morning.

I’ve given myself permission to be “perfectly imperfect” and learn to eat real food during my weight loss journey. Yes, it will slow things down a bit, but I’m thinking of this as maintenance training. Nothing magic happens once you reach goal weight. You’re able to eat a little bit more each day, but if you return to your old eating habits, you’ll regain the weight you worked so hard to lose (and probably some additional pounds as well)!

Non-scale victories to celebrate:

  1. I’m able to wear some of my favorite pieces of clothing again.
  2. The glow has returned to my skin.
  3. I switched from “diet” to real bread this week.
  4. Sadie and I have made 11 official therapy dog visits so far in 2023.
  5. I ended one week with 18 weeklies still available (didn’t eat them all as I tend to do).

P.S. I bought my 10 pounds gone reward knit top at Eddie Bauer while in North Dakota! Can’t wait to wear it with a favorite pair of white cropped jeans (that fit once again)!
