This sticker adorns my Elnita EC30 and elicits comments at various sew-ins I attend. Some folks give me a hard stare (don’t care!), but most chuckle and agree 100%.

People are so tightly wound these days. The media/politicians are constantly spinning every last little thing so hard left or hard right, it’s getting more difficult to find the truth that lies somewhere in the middle. It’s also impossible to get away from it here due to all of the shenanigans going on between the “cop city” debate, Trump & friends indictment, nonstop coverage of any crime or shooting in the ATL and the various Atlanta institutions competing to see who can be the most politically correct with regard to DEI.

Personally, I do not want to see a Biden/Trump rematch in 2024. In fact, I would like both gentlemen to retire and get out of politics. Let’s have moderate candidates with common sense step up to the plate and run for office in 2024. This is the type of leadership our country so desperately needs. I don’t care if the person is Democrat, Republican or Independent as long as they “act like they got some sense” and make our country and its everyday citizens the priority once again. It appears the “silent majority” has had enough of all the foolishness. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out over the next year.

One things for certain, it’s going to be a rollercoaster of a ride!

Sew excited! Ordered my free 4-day pass (MQG member perk!) and added on a Friday lecture pass + 1 lecture on Saturday. Just about all of the classes are already full. Not to worry. Should I decide something looks interesting once I get to QuiltCon, I can always check the classes buy/sell board near the registration desk. I’m actually planning to do a sew-cation in my hotel room, plus hang out with other quilty friends. Shopping, visiting and looking at quilts is our mission – not necessarily taking classes.

Right now, we’re planning to drive over on Thursday morning and head back to the ATL after lunch on Sunday. Fortunately, the week following QuiltCon is winter break, so no need to hurry back to get ready for my Monday homeschool enrichment munchkins. 🙂

1. Show your sewing machine some love – clean out under the needle plate, change the needle, oil, if necessary, & dust.
2. Make a custom cover for your machine.
3. Learn how to use each presser foot that came with your machine. Keep samples in a notebook.
4. Organize your sewing basket and supplies.
5. Catalog your book collection using Library Thing.
6. Plan a Sew with Friends Day
7. Visit a Quilt, Fabric or Sewing Machine shop to see what’s new.
8. Make a quilt, placemat or pillowcase to support local charities.
9. Teach someone else how to sew.
10. Experiment with a technique/process that intrigues you – applique, sashiko, EPP, shibori dye, weaving, felting, zipper insertion, detailed quilt blocks, bag making, paper piecing, crochet, etc.

More importantly – have fun celebrating!
